⌚ Skyline Forecast · Wear OS Watch Face
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 14, 2026 · Contact: admin@lifemate.au
1 Overview
Skyline Forecast is a Wear OS watch face that displays live local weather conditions, temperature, wind, and precipitation effects for your current location. This policy explains what data the app accesses, what is sent off your device, and how it is used.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or use analytics or tracking of any kind.
2 Permissions We Request
| Permission | Why We Need It |
INTERNET | To request weather data over the network |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | To check whether a network connection is available before fetching, and to pick the active network (Wi-Fi, cellular, or Bluetooth via the paired phone) |
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION | To determine your current position so the weather shown matches where you are. Location is read only while the app is open (when you open the refresh screen) |
ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION | Fallback when precise (GPS) location is unavailable |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | To show a brief local status notification when you manually refresh the weather (e.g. “Weather updated”). These notifications are generated entirely on your watch |
3 What Data Is Sent Off Your Device
To retrieve weather, the app sends one thing to our weather service: your approximate coordinates.
- Before sending, your latitude and longitude are rounded to 3 decimal places (roughly 100 meters of precision). Your exact GPS position never leaves the device.
- The request contains no name, no email, no account, no device identifier, and no advertising ID. Requests are authenticated with an app-level signature, not a user identity.
- Your location is read only while the app is open. Weather then refreshes automatically about every 30 minutes reusing that last captured location — so the coordinates follow your position as of the last time you opened the app. To update the location, open the app again.
Nothing else is transmitted. The app does not access or send contacts, calendar, messages, health data, microphone, camera, or any other sensor.
4 Our Weather Service (Backend)
Weather requests go to a backend service operated by the developer:
- Your watch sends the rounded coordinates to our backend over HTTPS (encrypted).
- The backend retrieves current conditions for those coordinates from WeatherAPI.com, a third-party weather data provider.
- The backend returns only weather data (temperature, condition, wind speed, precipitation) to your watch.
The backend acts as a simple relay for weather lookups. It does not build location histories or user profiles, and it stores no personal data.
Coordinates may appear transiently in standard infrastructure request logs operated by our hosting provider (Cloudflare); these are used only for service operation and abuse prevention, are not linked to any identity, and are automatically purged.
WeatherAPI.com receives only the rounded coordinates needed to answer the weather query. See their privacy policy at weatherapi.com/privacy.aspx.
5 Data Stored On Your Device
- The most recent weather result (temperature, condition, wind, precipitation) is cached locally on your watch so the face can still display something when the network is unavailable.
- Your most recently captured coordinates are also cached locally on your watch so the automatic weather refreshes can reuse them without reading your location again in the background. These coordinates never leave your device except as the rounded weather query described above, and are never stored on our servers.
- All cached data — including the stored coordinates — is removed automatically when you uninstall the app.
6 Data We Do NOT Collect
- No personal information of any kind
- No location history
- No analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry SDKs
- No advertising or tracking networks
- No user accounts or profiles
7 Data Sharing
We share data with no one, with a single functional exception: the rounded coordinates required to answer each weather query are passed to WeatherAPI.com (see Section 4). No data is ever sold or shared for advertising or marketing.
8 Children's Privacy
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
9 Your Choices
- You may deny or revoke location permission at any time in your watch settings. The watch face will continue to work, showing its default theme without live weather.
- You may disable the refresh notification by revoking the notification permission.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally cached data.
