⏰ Workday Alarm for Australia · Android & iOS
Privacy Policy

1 Overview
Workday Alarm for Australia is an alarm clock app for working days. Alarms repeat Monday to Friday and automatically skip the public holidays that apply to the Australian city you choose. This policy explains what data the app stores, what is sent off your device, and how it is used.
The app has no user accounts and does not collect personal information, request your location, sell your data, show ads, or use analytics or tracking of any kind.
2 Permissions We Request
All permissions exist purely so an alarm can ring reliably at the right moment.
| Permission | Why We Need It |
INTERNET | To download the list of Australian cities and their public-holiday dates from our service |
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM
USE_EXACT_ALARM | To ring at the exact minute you set, rather than whenever the system finds convenient |
USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT | To show the ringing alarm screen over the lock screen, like a normal alarm clock |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | To deliver the alarm itself — on Android an alarm is a notification |
WAKE_LOCK | To turn the screen on when an alarm fires |
VIBRATE | To vibrate when an alarm fires, if you enabled vibration for it |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | So alarms can survive a device restart |
FOREGROUND_SERVICE | To keep the alarm ringing while you decide to snooze or dismiss it |
The app requests no location permission. You choose your city manually from a list in Settings; the app never reads GPS, Wi-Fi, or network-based location.
3 What Data Is Sent Off Your Device
The app contacts our service for exactly two things, and only over HTTPS (encrypted):
- The list of Australian states and cities, so you can pick your city. This request contains no information about you.
- Public-holiday dates for the city you picked. This request contains the state code and city name you selected (for example
state=VIC&city=Geelong) — nothing else.
These requests contain no name, no email, no account, no device identifier, and no advertising ID. They are authenticated with an app-level key shared by every copy of the app, not with a user identity.
Nothing else is transmitted. Your alarms, alarm labels, wake times, chosen tones, and any holidays you add yourself never leave your device. The app does not access or send contacts, calendar, messages, location, health data, microphone, camera, or any other sensor.
4 Our Holiday Service (Backend)
The city and holiday data comes from a backend service operated by the developer on Cloudflare Workers:
- It is a read-only reference database of Australian public holidays — national, state-wide, and city/regional. Nothing you enter in the app is ever uploaded to it.
- It stores no user data whatsoever: no accounts, no alarms, no device records, no profiles. It holds only lists of states, cities, and holiday dates.
- No third-party data provider is involved, and no data is passed to one.
Your IP address and the city name in a request may appear transiently in standard infrastructure request logs operated by our hosting provider (Cloudflare). These are used only for service operation and abuse prevention, are not linked to any identity, and are automatically purged. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
5 Data Stored On Your Device
Everything the app knows about you is stored locally on your phone, and only on your phone:
- The city you selected.
- Your alarms — label, time, repeat rule, holiday settings, chosen tone, vibration, and snooze length.
- The public-holiday dates downloaded for your city, so alarms stay holiday-aware while offline.
- Holidays you added yourself (such as a company day off), and any holidays you chose to ignore.
This local storage is what makes the app work offline — the backend is only contacted when you pick a city or sync holidays. All of this data is removed automatically when you uninstall the app.
6 Data We Do NOT Collect
- No personal information of any kind
- No location, and no location history
- No analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry SDKs
- No advertising or tracking networks
- No user accounts or profiles
- No contacts, calendar, photos, microphone, or camera access
7 Data Sharing
We share your data with no one. No data is ever sold, or shared for advertising or marketing. The only external party involved is our hosting provider (Cloudflare), which operates the service infrastructure as described in Section 4.
8 Children's Privacy
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
9 Your Choices
- You may deny or revoke the notification permission at any time in your device settings — but because an alarm is delivered as a notification, alarms will not ring without it.
- On Android 12 and later you can revoke "Alarms & reminders"; alarms may then fire late or not at all.
- You can use the app without ever picking a city — you simply won't get holiday-aware skipping.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data, including your alarms.
